- Hello i'm new to site, I was given an older johnson outboard motor, but i'm not sure what year,hp,the ID plate is missing. But i do have some numbers i've found the first one is on the cover it is 376920 the other number is on the cyl. 305369 also on the freeze plug i the the numbers are 1692879 they are real hard to read. I would like to.

If the vertical drive model and serial numbers are not recorded with the engine model and serial number, they can be found on a plate located on the vertical drive. The transom mount model and serial number plate is located on the inner transom plate.

The serial number tag is located on the UPPER DRIVE SHAFT HOUSING (starboard side or on the back of the housing).
